# Questions about DontDropBook If you are trying to work out whether this thing is legitimate and worth handing your email to, this page is the short version. No marketing, no hedging. ## Questions about DontDropBook ### Is DontDropBook affiliated with the IBEW? No. DontDropBook is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the IBEW or any of its local unions, and it has no relationship with any hall, business manager or dispatcher. It is a private tool that helps a member track their own commitments. Your hall is the only authority on your book status. ### Does DontDropBook track re-sign deadlines at more than one local? Yes — that is the entire reason it exists. Signing Book 2 at five locals means five different windows, five different accepted methods, and five different ways to get dropped. DontDropBook holds all of them in one place and tells you when each one is coming. ### What does DontDropBook cost? It is free while we are building it. There is no card, no trial timer, and no upsell in the product today. When paid tiers arrive, tracking a single local will stay free — the paid tier will be for people carrying several books at once, which is where the tool actually earns its keep. ### Which IBEW locals are covered? The published, verified list is at [the locals directory](https://dontdropbook.com/locals), and it grows as we confirm each one. We publish a local only after reading its own referral page and recording the date we did it. We would rather cover fewer locals accurately than every local approximately. ### How do you verify a local's re-sign window? Somebody reads the local's own referral or hiring-hall page, records the rule verbatim, notes the date, and publishes both alongside the data. If the local does not state a window, the page says so instead of guessing. Tell us and we fix it the same day, then re-verify the local and update the date on its page. We will not pretend that makes you whole. This is why every page carries a last-verified date and a link to the local's own page, and why every reminder tells you to confirm with your hall: the tool is a second pair of eyes, not a replacement for the hall. ### Does DontDropBook sign the book for me or contact my local? No, and it never will. It does not contact your hall, does not submit re-signs on your behalf, does not touch your dispatch position, and does not represent you to anyone. It sends you a reminder. Doing the re-sign is yours. ### Does DontDropBook track job calls? No. Job calls are covered well by other tools built by travelers — GoHereBro and BroBoard both aggregate open calls across locals, and the IBEW TRAVELER app does book movement alerts. Those answer "where is the work." DontDropBook answers "am I about to lose my place in line for it." Most people should use one of each. We wrote an [honest comparison](https://dontdropbook.com/blog) rather than pretend we do everything. ### Who runs DontDropBook? It started with one person driving state to state signing books at halls he had never dealt with, finding out what each one wanted after making the trip. It is used to send re-sign reminders and occasional notes about the product. It is not sold, not rented, and not handed to any hall, contractor or advertiser. You can have it deleted by asking. Reminders arrive by text and email, which work on every phone on every jobsite without anyone installing anything.
